A very good debut novel for this author!
A very good historical romance.
Stunning beauty Chelsea Bllamy's brother has been kidnapped, and in desperate need of funds for the ransom, she had resorted to a life of crime. Meeting her in a botched robbery at his own town house one night, Anthony Grenville, Viscount Montrose became intrigued by her predicament and, determined to seduce her, offered her his assistance in rescuing her brother.
"A Rogue's Pleasure" was a good book with good characters. I enjoyed both Anthony and Chelsea very much....Anthony especially. I thought it was refreshing how open he was with his feelings for Chelsea. He never pretended not to feel for her,in fact, he declares himself very early on...it was very sweet actually. So why only 3 stars? For some reason I cant name, this book failed to grab me. I found myself putting it down again and again...flipping ahead to see how much was left. The plot wasnt all that entertaining, and the villian was very obvious. All in all a pleasant read,
I really liked the characters in this book. I was drawn into their world and had a hard time putting the book down. It was a nice story, and a good way to pass an afternoon. I was left with the feeling that a firm and believable relationship was in place rather than an unrealistic one that some romance novels end with. Also, I remember some of the hijinx that took place where the heroine just doesn't seem to catch a break, and it makes me smile (some funny scenes play out in the story, such as her being chased throughout London by a growing mob of disgruntled people).
The pistol in my face made it prudent to give up my money and valuables, though my fiancee protested the loss of her pearls. The highwayman made good his escape, but there was something amiss in his slim figure, the pitch of his voice, the pouting lips. This was no ordinary thief. This thief was a woman!
I was determined to find the comely robber - and not just reclaim the pearl necklace. And soon enough I caught her stealing from my very own townhouse! But this time I was better prepared. Holding her captive, I removed her disguise and uncovered a stunning beauty. Chelsea Bellamy's brother had been kidnapped, and in desperate need of funds for the ransom, she had resorted to a life of crime. Imtrigued by her predicament and determined to seduce her, I offered her my assistance in rescuing her brother. The challenge of finding him was a welcome distratction from the boredom that plagued me, but the real challenge would be in wooing Chelsea to my bed...
