Anyone who likes humor would like Patrick McManus. He writes in the style of Mark Twain, about the innocence of youth we lose when we become grown-ups. It makes you remember similar times in your own younger days. I loved it.

What the book blurb says: Describing Patrick F. McManus as an outdoor humorist is like saying Mark Twain wrote books about small boys...the funniest writer around today-indoors or outdoors.
What I say: Be sure you're safely sitting down before you start reading because you're going to get giddy with laughter when you read. Some tales are about McManus' childhood (which he never grew out of), and some are about his adulthood (which is so wonderfully not very adult). Meet Crazy Eddie Muldoon, McManus boyhood friend. The two of them find a clutch of very old eggs and then go looking for targets. Go on vacation to Hawaii with McManus and his wife Bun. Bun sends him off on a fishing trip that turns into an eerie experience requiring 'revenge'. Learn the efficacy of getting lost on a hunting trip and how to do it like a pro.

Great short essays by a comic classic!
This is one of the funnest books I have ever read.
My husband gave me this book to put on. I haven't read it. He said that McManus writes funny stories about hunting.
Humorous outdoor tales from North Idaho with people like Crazy Eddie, Retch, Rancid and Fenton Quagmire
Patrick McManus is the king of outdoor humor. His tales with crazy Eddie Muldoon and Retch Sweeney May not be sophisticated enough for you high-brow types but for us good ol' country boys they are always good for a laugh.
As one of America's great outdoor humorists, Patrick McManus excells in books such as this. Comic and easily readable.
For anyone who hasn't read Patrick McManus's writing - this is a great place to start! This is a 'laugh-out-loud' book. You should only read this when you are in a private location, otherwise you will startle those around you with outbursts of laughter. This would be a great gift - outdoors people will especially enjoy it, but I think anyone will get the humor. Too funny for words!!
If you have ever camped, backpacked or went fishing, or done silly things as a kid, this book is laugh out loud funny all the way through.
Again, I have a different cover, but same book. Copyright 1987
