Don't be put off by the awful film. This audio version is actually very good. The story is much more interesting when you can use your own imagination about the characters and their environment. I really enjoyed listening to it. Some nice variations on the "bored, dumb kids get into trouble in a foreign country" theme. I liked some of the things you couln't be sure of during the story. Was there really a cell phone? Was it a case of quarantine or sacrifice? Can something that isn't human be a murderer? I was pleased the ending was seated in a kind of realism and not in a fake "tie it all up so we can go home happiness".
You will be on the edge of your seat with this story!! It is very horrific and I love Patrick Wilson's voice! A must - hear!
I was very disappointed by this book. What would have been a great short story was made into an interminable diatribe. I thought about abandoning the book, but I had to know how it ended. So I stuck until the end, and then wished I hadn't.
This book is a true horror story, it was pretty gross too! Despite that, it was compelling and I read/listened to the whole thing.
This one will keep your interest throughout. Narrator has the tenor to add the necessary drama to this suspenseful story. There must be a sequel.
