Eliza has no intention of getting married. Her elderly aunts looking for a tome on how to launch a successful season, mistake a military theory book for an etiquette book. They begin to launch their efforts, relying on the strategies outlined within the book. Eliza meanwhile meets a man whom she persuades to pretend to be enamoured of her. Of course they fall in love for real, and all obstacles are overcome. Happy ending ensues.

Kathryn Caskie's intro to her meddling aunts series provides witty and amusing fun along with an unlikely hero. A quick, adorable read.
Starts choppy but then gets interesting--I liked it much better in the end than I expected, and am surprised and pleased to say that I would like to read more by this author. A solid B.
The old ladies are a funny pair as they use their departed father's book on military maneuvers to guide their niece through the perils of the English ton and the strategies of snagging a husband. I enjoyed this lighthearted read.
