Set in the deep south, the time of the great depression, Ferrol Sams brings alive the way life was back then. If you have any Southern upbringing in you, this is a must read. From the manners taught, to the family oddities, to the food they eat, you will relate to this book. I laughed my way through much of it. A truly wonderful book. The author is recently retired and still living in Fayetville, GA. He is a doctor. This first book of a trilogy is listed as fiction but I have always wondered if it might have been based on his life. A grand story.
