A tidy tale of an estranged couple.
Lord Ramsay and his wife Jane had married very young, a case of love at first sight. But the fast life in their set of London friends and the three miscarriages Jane suffered estranged them, and Jane left her husband Hayden to return home to Barton Park with her younger sister Emma. Jane found peace living quietly at Barton Park and working to repair its dilapidated state. But Hayden was the Earl, and Jane felt he would be expected to have an heir, so she wrote him that she would agree to a divorce. Hayden immediately sought Jane out to attempt a reconciliation -- and because he had never stopped loving her. Complications ensue when a party of his louche pals from London also descend on Barton Park and one of them is looking for a rumored ancestral treasure hoard.
This is a good, solid tale of a young couple learning to love more wisely and to be open with each other. For those who care, some of the love scenes are pretty steamy, but they're not disgusting or exploitative. I would recommend it.
