Bored. The first 2 books in this series were full of action, layers, and characters. The series moved along at a pace that kept me from putting the book down. This one had me skimming thru most of it. Butcher spent way to much time keeping us inside Lexi's head, and it took to long to convince her to change her mind about the Sentinels, about 100 pages to much. I didn't feel the passion between her and Zach that I found with the previous 2 couples. Their story lost it's spark once he caught her. We had a couple of very short glimpses into other layers of the story, we know who the spy is, but the next plot he was told to accomplish died in a very short chapter. We got a glimpse at the lullaby project, but not enough to understand it. We got to meet the Prince who fathered some of the Theronai women, but it was a weak portion of the story. I'm not giving up on this series at all, I was just not as excited about this book. Looks like book 4 is about Nika and Madoc, and I am really looking forward to that story.

I really enjoy this series! I found this one to be page-turning, but Lexi doesn't discover her power until the very end, which was a little disappointing. It also takes her a long time to trust Zach, which is understandable but potentially frustrating to the reader. I was still glad to be reading about the Sentinels.

This was the first book I have read by Butcher. I am a fan of her husband's Dredsen series so I was excited to check her out. The Sentinel was very similar to Christine Feehan's Dark characters, down to them turning into the monsters they hunt if the ladies didn't get together with them. There was also a hint of Sherrilyn Kenyon's League series.

That being said it was still a very enjoyable book and I look forward to reading more of her books. I do agree with the review that said Butcher spent too much time on Lexi's thoughts and it took a long time for her to come around. It was just hard because it was repetitive thoughts. Perhaps it would have been better if we were able to access more times she shared with her mother, especially if they were good memories of her mother. A lot of her shared memories didn't really add to her conflict or the plot since she had already spoken of it at some other point. Plus her mother just came off as crazy and nothing else. I'm also not sure I like the "family" ending (Don't want to give it away for those who haven't read it). It seemed a little too convenient and a dumb way to want to "help" the cause.

But I was caught up with the action and the characters. I didn't want to put it down and can't wait to get back into this world. There were things that will need to be addressed in the other books so keep in mind that things don't get completely resolved in this book.

Even though I was able to figure most of the things out on my own, it was still a little difficult trying to figure out all the different races and how they are connected. So I don't really recommend reading them out of order.

The first two were WAY better, but I still liked it. There was not enough going on and I didn't really feel the connection between Lexi and Zach.
