Overall, a good book - makes you sorry for the conditions that this young, disturbed boy grew up in. The graphic gay sex scenes were difficult to listen to and I found myself dreading multiple scenes - in truth, there were only two very graphic ones and overall the book was worth it. I don't think I'll get another one of his books, though, just because of the gay sex scenes which tended to be very violent.

Being a person who works in the psychology field I didnt find this book as far-fetched as some might. And while it was explicit, I guess I dont offend easily because I was actually in awe of his honesty. I thought the book was well written and well read.
Book is about growing up in dysfunctional environments, from his own family to being sent to live with therapist family that was even more dysfunctional than his birth family. In the meantime, he is trying to come to grips with his homosexuality.
This book could be a bit harsh but the story keeps you listening to see what else could happen. It is so hard to believe that this is a true story.
Absolutely incredible crazy! If you liked The Glass Castle, you may also like this. I am never offended by the F word and enjoy oddities, thus this book grabbed my interest.
An interesting & entertaining memoir of a highly dysfunctional family.
Great book. Very vivid but great psychologically inclined book.
