THE BEST and I mean THE BEST crime book I have ever read!! It is 3rd in the Jack Daniels series. I was given this book to read over the summer and knew nothing about the series. I have since read the 1st 2 in the series. Both were good but nothing will compare to Rusty Nail I'm afraid.

I love this series! I can read one of these books in one night (and I have!) You really can't go wrong with this if you like a good thriller with a touch of humor, I hope there are many, many more in this series, book four is on its way to me now, I hope I can wait!

Graphic and gory. More like Patricia Cornwell than Janet Evanovich. While the book is well-written, I didn't like the subject matter.

Great addition to the series!

Good characters, somewhat gruesome story line. Great narrators, enjoyed the acting. This is an abridged CD (4 disks) and between #3 and #4 disk there's a huge gap in the tale that made me feel like I was missing at least 2 more disks. It all ties in together in the middle of #4 and you catch up but it was confusing. I haven't read the original but it was pretty apparent that book has much more action and character development. Overall good story, but a minor disappointment in what was left out.

I really liked this book--it moves at a good clip without a lot of unnecessary descriptions, well written but it a bit graphic and gory and sadistic and horrific, so if you can take all that you'll like it too, it has good characters and a quite a bit of humor in rough situations.

This is book 3 in the series. Once you start reading it's hard to put down. If you can get past some of the gruesome descriptions then you'll be able to enjoy reading this book. Look forward to reading book 4 Dirty Martini.

Love this series. Read all of them and hoping for another book with Jack and the boys! Hilarious supporting characters (Harry) and great suspense, mystery, thriller plots. Suggest you read them in order because of some of the underlying plots, but can be read out of order.
Have read everything that Mr. Konrath has written and even his other pen name (Jack Kilborn).

What I enjoy about this series is that it manages to be hard-boiled and funny at the same time.

The 3rd installment of "Jack" Daniels. Another "can't put it down" book. This one is the finishing touch on the Gingerbread man story. Very good writing, makes you feel like you are right there. Would recommend this series to everyone!
Another fantastic "Jack" Daniels thriller. Investigating murders connected with a previous case, Jack is on her own since Herb is battling medical issues. McGlade steps in with surprising news, horrific murders are on her doorstep & her mom is still recovering. Fast paced & thrilling with a little comedy thrown in for a good mix. Looking forward to the next book
Very good book! Third book in the series. Be sure to read Whiskey Sour first, then Bloody Mary. I felt like the book was well written and entertaining! The main character is a female, and although the book is written by a man it seems to work well. Action packed and full of murder and danger, it is also full of oneliners and other comedy. Some say graphic but I don't think it is. QUICK to read. Flows smoothly and makes you want to pick up the next so you can get right back into the adventure. Best read in order so you understand the characters, the relationships and the past casts and situations referred to. Be sure to pick up Dirty Martini next.
There were so many things that were wrong with Rusty Nail. Once again, the plot was over the top, the villain was ridiculous and the killings excessive to the point of gratuity. I ended up skimming the last 50 pages just to see if my thoughts on who the killer was correct (and it was), but I couldn't have cared less about what happened to any of the characters. Some of the humor was funny, but some of it was forced and inappropriate in light of what was going on in the story. This is a series that I will not continue reading.

This book combines the traits of 3 of my favorite authors: the non-stop action of a John Sandford thriller, the humor of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum, and the seriously twisted serial killer of Jeffery Deaver. This book is truly a wild ride! I give it 5 stars.
Love the Jack Daniels series! Always eager to start the next one. Good solid characters keep you interested.
I enjoyed this book. Jack Daniels is a thoroughly believable character who comes across as a real human being not a supercop. The dialogue is very clever and often humorous and the other characters a fairly solid. Having said all of that, I would also say that this is almost the same plot and storyline as the first book, Whisky Sour with a shifting of characters. Don't let that deter you from reading and enjoying this book but at the same time, don't expect anything new.
I liked the first "Jack Daniels" book, but found the next two gruesome in a contrived and repetitive way. How many times can the author use the same perverted family as the bad guys?
I'd enjoyed previous books in the series, but the subject matter got too dark in this one. There was torture involving adults, kids, and animals. I couldn't keep reading.
I completely enjoyed this book. It has serious moments and very funny moments too. This was the first I have listened to by J.A. Konrath and it won't be the last. It was wonderful
enjoyed this audio book. story was interesting. Narrator did a good job of bringing the book to life. recommended. Curtis
