This is a great adventure, turned into a Paramount motion picture, but the movie does not do the book justice. You will not want to put this one down, the end will leave you speechless. Enjoy

Once I picked up this book and started reading, I couldn't put it down. It has everything ... heroes, villains, a confederate ship buried in the Sahara desert, a toxic waste spill that will destroy all life on earth unless the source can be found and neutralized. It was so good, I couldn't wait to turn to the next page!

Way better than the movie!
Another good one from Cussler.
Awesome book, kept me intrigued. Can't wait to see the movie now.
Better than the movie!
better than the movie!
Holds interest well. Very suspenseful. Better than movie.
Very typical Clive Cussler Dirk Pitt novel. Not at all the same storyline as the film.
The book Sahara starts off with yet another great adventure story that Clive Cussler is so good at. The only reason I did not like the story is because I can not stomach cannabalism. Other than that issue the book would have been another great book that I have read of Cussler's. I have read only about 8 of them so far and have like all of the others. If cannabalism doesn't bother you then the book probably will be enjoyed and rated as well as many of his other adventure stories.
A fast actioned thriller.
much better than the movie!
Sahara is an extremely well written book by Clive Cussler. It is a very interesting action/adventure book that never ceases to captivate you with its many story lines and plots. Its characters all have something to offer and don't kill the story with stupidity or lame lines. Also the main characters Dirk Pitt and Al Giordino are always on the top of their game and always have something humorous to say in the light of trouble adding a lighter side to the imminent threat of deadly toxins overshadowing the book
I decided to read this book after seeing the movie and I loved the book so much. It starts out a little slow, but once it picks up it doesn't stop. It's my first Dirk Pitt book, but I will be reading more.
This was JUST PLAIN FUN. Nothing like the movie, of course. It was pretty dang good, in true thriller style.
A terrific book! Better than the movie; one of Clive Cussler's
better Dirk Pitt stories!

Another Dirk Pitt adventure that will keep you coming back for more.
The movie is good the book is great. A cussler thriller. Dirk Pitt at his best. Searching for treasure Pitt finds the truth behind two enduring mysteries the fate of a Civil War ironclad and the flight of a long lost female pilot.
So much better than the movie, I love all of his books.
Excellent book, a thousand times better than the movie! My second favorite Clive Cussler book (after Inca Gold)!

Great Reading
A thriller-diller.
Good adventure story, much better than the movie.
Action-packed thriller. Later made into a movie starring Matthew McConaghey (sp?) The book is a whole lot better!!
This was the first book I've read by this author. Interesting story line. Good characters. Haven't seen the movie yet.
One of the best Clive Cussler has written. The book leaves the movie in the dust.
Best of the Best. Non-stop action. Politically modern
This was the first one of the Dirk Pitt Adventures. It was enjoyable and easy to read. i am working on my second and have purchased the 3 book series sp I canread them in order. I would like to see the movie and put faces on the charachters as through the eyes of the director and casting people.
This is definately a guys read. Too much technical stuff for me. I never like the movie more but in this case I did.
The inspiration for the Matthew McConaughey movie. Those who saw the movie will be interested in a few interesting plot twists that didn't make it into the film. A classic treasure hunt / adventure with all the impossible coincidences. You'll roll your eyes, but you'll still enjoy every far-fetched moment!
Dirk Pitt's Most Explosive Adventure!
Classic Cussler, a little different from the Movie. Good reading
A civil war gunboat that vanished in 1865, a world famous Australian aviatrix who disappeared in 1931, a deadly tide of poison that threatens the world with doom. Classic Cussler. So much better than the crappy movie they made from the book.
Amidst the blazing shifting sands of the Sahara Dirk Pitt will make a desperate stand in a battle the world cannot afford to lose to prevent an environmental catastrophe.

excellent dirk pitt adventure
one of the older ones...this is where i fell in love with the series
Cussler doesn't disappoint with this offering. The action is non-stop. It kind of stretches the imagination to expect a Confederate gun boat to sail the Atlantic and cruise up the Niger river, but that sets the scene for this extrodinary tale.
This is a classic story of corporate greed, a despotic dictator, and courageous volunteers from the World Health Organization.
Don't miss this one.
