A classic story of a little dog who goes to sea and has all sorts of adventures. Illustrations are bright and happy.
Despite its "classic" appearance, my Kindergarten kids are drawn to look at it, if not always to read it, probably because of the canine theme, not the maritime theme.
classic storybook. all 4 of my boys loved it.
Probanly the original source of the Popeye the Sailor Man song (book was first published in 1953), it's "I'm Scuppers the Sailor Dog.....I can sail in a gale, right over a whale, under full sail in a fog."
First published in 1953, not too politically incorrect, although Wikipedia states that 4 pages were taken out of the original, not sure if that's the case here. Good plot, although the size of the book makes it hard as a read-aloud to a class, this would be something you could read 1 on 1 with first graders. The song at the back might have been the inspiration for "Popeye the Sailor Man", possibly some of the architecture in the book, as well.
Yes. Excellent!
