This is the story of 15 yr old Michael's coming of age and his father's drowning. Set on an isolated island off the New England coast, it tells of the family's summer vacation. Their guest house is rented to Mrs. Mertz and her daughter Zina, both beautiful flirts. The story is a mix of romantic, sensual, paternal and filial love that reaches a shocking and fatal conclusion
