An old fashioned page turning space opera the way they used to write them. Perhaps not a classic but an exciting adventure by an unnecessarily forgotten writer of the genre.

The story of Jack Storm, a Knight of the galaxy spanning Dominion Empire, whose betrayal at the hands of shadowy figures sets him on an odyssey of revenge for his fallen comrades. Combining elements of classic space opera, hard-boiled detective fiction and even The Count of Monte Cristo, The Sand Wars will appeal to those who want to kick back and enjoy a story with likable characters, dangerous villains and an alien menace that threatens the survival of humanity.

Recommended for fans of classic SF adventure and especially those fond of the Warhammer 40,000 series (although generally not as dark or gritty).

This is a good omnibus since the stories really blend together. It's a solid read with a great storyline and excellent character development. Amber, Jack Storm, Bogie, and St. Colin are all engaging characters that you actually start to care about a great deal, though Bogie doesn't come into his own until the third book. The story shifts points of view among the various factions in a way that is smooth and contributes to the enjoyment of the story. You will look forward to seeing how things turn out and will not be disappointed.
