An eclectic mix of stories inspired by the Sandman graphic novels, penned by modern luminaries of fantasy and sci-fi. Highlights include Will Shetterly's gruesome and hysterical follow-up of the "Collectors" story arc in the original graphic novels; Delia Sherman's subtle and erotic story about wolves and Desire; and Karen Haber's nutshell battle against an impending apocalypse. With an Afterword by Tori Amos and an illustration by Clive Barker.

Like any collection featuring multiple authors, this book features some hits and some misses. Mostly hits, though! It was really interesting to see other people's takes on Gaiman's brilliant creation. There are so many ways to approach the world he created (do you write about the Endless themselves? The side characters? Is it set in reality? Or in The Dreaming? Or both?) and these stories are a good representation of the different possibilities.
Good but would have better if Neil Gaiman had of included a story as well instead of just editing
There are some very beautiful and haunting stories collected by several wonderful authors. If you love the Sandman collected, then definitely read this. If you have no clue what the Sandman series is then SHOO! Off to the comic shop with thee!
Great Read for the Sandman fans out there.
