I honestly can't believe there are so few reviews for this book. I read a couple of fiction books a week...for my whole life I have. I think this is the only book besides Gone With The Wind that I've read repeatedly. It is just the best. The first few chapters are a little dry but it's just the set up for the characters...Getting to know who they each are ends up being important, actually. Keep reading and you will NOT be sorry. Even after reading this many times I STILL can not put it down until the end. If you go to Amazon there are lots of reviews for this book. Honestly, it is just the best...so exciting!

This is the best book I have ever read. I'm not sure how to explain what I mean. Okay...maybe not the best written, maybe not the most meaningful or intelligent. But this is the one book that I can read over and over and always be spellbound each and every time...there is just something about it. It is just as thrilling each time I read it. The beginning is slow but you need to plow through it because it is so worth it. And the end...great! Check out the reviews on Amazon....I was pleased to see that I'm not crazy LOL...many agreed!

The lead up to the woman surviving in the jungle seemed too detailed and only partly relevant, but the rest was fascinating.

Fascinating story about a group of spoiled executive's wives who become stranded on an island and how they survive, evolve, and, ultimately, escape. Shirley Conran weaves a credible tale of greed (corporate, personal, political), political instability, deception, and love. The settings for her story range from the luxurious corporate offices of Nexus, with its "sharks in suits" to the savage jungle of Paui and, finally, to the potentially deadly sea. The author takes her time building the plot, so it's not a quick women-in-peril read.

I enjoyed reading about the women's developing survival skills and life in the jungle. Conran doesn't sugar coat their experiences and I really felt their disappointments, fears, horror, and desperation. A good book to take on a vacation.
