Since Salter expressed his wish that his diaries go unpublished, Uncollected Writings is likely the final volume of its kind presenting to the reader rare and hard to find prose buried in magazines from the seventies onward. These nearly 50 pieces range from celebrations of Aspen and the winter sports Salter so loved published first in in the Aspen Times, Backpacker Magazine, GEO, and Conde Nast Traveler to reviews for the New York and London Review of Books, profiles and obituaries. Included as well in this new compilation are interviews with Salter and reviews of his own work.
