Savor It by Tarah DeWitt was the first novel I've read by the author and I enjoyed it. It was excellent audio thanks to the skilled narrators (Karissa Vacker and Zachary Webber) for the heroine and hero. This contemporary romance includes several tropes (small town, grumpy + sunshine, slow burn, etc.) and follows the expected plot points but was still interesting and had a strong sense of place.

Sage is a local teacher, animal lover, and hobby farmer who's recovering from the sudden end of a five-year relationship. Fisher and his teen niece rent the house next door for their short-term stay in town to open a new restaurant. From their meet-cute, they go from instant attraction -
fake dating - friends to lovers. Along the way, there's humor, meddling townspeople, descriptions of delicious food, Fisher grieving the death of his sister, and of course, a happily-ever-after ending.

While I was excited that my state was mentioned, the reference wasn't positive which made me sad, although the criticism could be made of a small town anywhere in the US.

Thanks so much to Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for early access to the audiobook.
