I was given a copy of this book from the publishers via NetGalley, in return for an honest review.
The Scam would have easily gotten 4 stars from me were it not for the last few pages. Had it just ended after the scam was completed, those 4 stars would have been earned. But alas, we had to write just a few more pages and add a cliff hanger. I don't mind reading a series, but I am a firm believer that every book in that series needs to wrap up.
That being said, up until the cliff hanger, the book was great. I was surprised, and saddened, that it was so short when I first started reading it, but it seemed longer than it was, and in a good way. There were actually a few con jobs that happened throughout the story, and they were all pretty entertaining. We saw the return of some previous characters. I don't think that there would be an issue if this were the first Fox and O'Hare that a reader picked up, the mentions of previous cases and people were at a minimum. Though this will obviously not be the case in the next book.
Overall, a pretty good read, even better if you stop as soon as "the scam" is wrapped up.
