This is the first of the Henrie O. series. I found the book a little uneven, but really connected with the story about halfway through. Henrie uses a friends cabin for a vacation. A man intrudes in the night saying, "He didn't kill her." After some discussion, Henrie O. pretends to be his aunt and offers assistance to help him. I am looking forward to the next book in the series to find out more about the character of Henrie O.

Hennrie O is looking forward to a quiet holiday. Instead, the ex-journalist turned sleuth awakens in a Tennessee mountain cabin to discover her friend's nephew, his shirt stained with blood, his handsome face stricken by fear and horror.......... Craig Matthews swears he didn't kill his wife but he ran away. Henrie O is drawn into the thick of a life and death drama, into the lives of Fair Haven's best families, into a world where wealth and privilege mask a hotbed of sex, lies and desperation.

I really enjoyed this Henrie O mystery by Carolyn Hart. Henrie O poses as the aunt of her best friend's nephew while her friend is hospitalized. The nephew's wealthy wife, Pattie Kay, has been murdered and all signs point to her husband, Craig. Henrie O goes on her own detecting mission to find Patty Kay's killer. The book is full of very interesting characters who could have motive for killing Patty Kay, but Henry O, as an amateur sleuth, begins to narrow down the suspects and the motives. She's a brave and smart woman who isn't afraid to assert herself.

Henrie is back. This is a slow moving but intriguing mystery. It is well crafted and as with other Henrie O. books, has a twist at the end. Don't even try to guess who dunnit 'cause you will be surprised.

Henrie O is looking forward to a quiet holiday, instead the ex-journalist turned sleuth awakens in a Tennesee mountain cabin to discover her friend's nephew, his shirt stained with blood, his handsome face stricken by fear and horror. Craig Matthews swears he didn't kill his wife, swears he didn't lure Patty Kay out to the playhouse of their lavish Fair Haven estate and leave her bloodied and dead. Why, then, did he run away. It's a question that draws Henrie O into the thick of a life and death drama, into the lives of Fair Haven's best families, and into a world where wealth and privilege mask a hotbed of sex, lies and desperation.
