Good beach read.
The English town of Starbridge, home to a great medieval cathedral and the religious, political and sexual intrigues that whirl around it is the setting. It is into this charged atmosphere in the alreaady heated 1960's that a young woman searching for meaning in her life, and an older man prominent in the Church, began to move inexorably toward emotional collision.
This series is a great read. It has lots of detail, and the character development is outstanding. It is a history of the Church of England from pre-WWII up through the 1970s.
