Do you have any irrational fears? Do you wish to get rid of them?
This summer, four twelve year olds - Madeleine, Theo, Lulu, and Garrison - will be forced by their parents to go to the School of Fear and see if they can do just that.
This elite, private boarding school is full of gloominess and lanterns that hang from rusty old chains. The inhabitants spend endless hours of learning proper smiling and waving with their former beauty pageant contestant principal herself.
With a creepy groundskeeper, a crazy principal, and an unorthodox teacher, the school is more fearsome than the children's actual fears. In order to escape, they'll have to work together as a team and face their fear head on. With only six weeks to do it and a servant who's in desperate need of help getting out of there, will they succeed?
SCHOOL OF FEAR is a gloomy but hilarious book. The characters are entertaining, especially the bad guys. The plot is unique and fun to read. Readers who like A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS, fantasy, and over-the-top villains will all enjoy this book.

NO NO NO NO
I got this book to give a 10 yr old for Christmas but no way! I'm an avid reader and usually like to read what I pass along to the young readers but this one is not on a 9-12 yr old level, it's more for an advanced reader that knows where London is located, or where North Korea is located (which was mentioned in one sentence), the first 4 chapters are so boring that I don't feel like this book can hold the attention of that age reader, maybe age 13+ might be able to stick with it but I found it to be so boring I couldn't stick with it
I do not recommend this book for the age 9-12, too many words they don't have a clue how to pronounce them let alone what they mean, just not good writing for this age group
