Gordon Korman does it again! Here's another book that will capture you from the start. A book told by various points of view - the main characters. At first I thought it would be choppy, but this book flows and is a quick read. I couldn't put it down and am now recommending it to many of my students. Several have read it and agree, it's a great book and they have recommended it to their friends.
This book is now one of my top 10 Young Adult books!

This is a witty and wise book for young and old alike. Capricorn Anderson is a breath of fresh air to the jaded students of Claverage Middle School. He was selected as the 8th-grade president to make him the butt of many jokes and cruelties. Instead, Cap turned the jokesters on their heads by being himself and unthwarted by the unkindness he saw around himself.
Cap was dropped into this cruelty pit by the fall of his grandmother (out of a tree). She needed surgery and rehab to recover and that meant 8 weeks of physical therapy in a hospital setting. So, Cap was sent to the foster home of Mrs. Donnelly. Garland Farm, a hippie commune where Cap and Rain (Cap's grandmother) sat idle. Fifty plus years later, it is easy to see that some of the ideas of the hippies were right on.

Good story about accepting others' differences, but it is more suited for middle school than upper elementary. I bought this for 4th graders, and it was way above their level. The narrator changes throughout the story, and the beginning of each chapter tells you who is narrating, but at times it was even hard for me as an adult to keep track of who was telling the story.
Great book. It will make you laugh out loud.
