After 70 years of subjugation by the sadistic Sherank, Tigrallef, Scion of Oballef, found the long-hidden Lady in Gil. Wielding it's powerful magic, Tig destroyed the accursed Sherank, but as Gil was restored, the Lady lay broken, her powers dispersed forever. Now Tig's brother, the new Priest-King, has arranged for him to be married for a large dowry. But Tig isn't the only one to object and assassination attempts dog his every move. The Lady in Gil, however, is not as broken as everyone believes - and she has her own plans. Tig needs the Lady's magic, but the powers carry a heavy price, one which he is not yet prepared to pay.
