1st in series:
What a sweep scoop delicious Texas fun with a murder served on top.
Tally Jones becomes the prime suspect when her ex husbands newest pice of candy turns up dead after a social function that Tally helped cater. All fingers point to Tally when the police find empty ice cream cups laced with anti-freeze instead of the specialty green drizzle topping.
This was an easy going cozy mystery that kept a good pace. Unlike most cozy mysteries, our main characer doesnt get attacked, threatning phone calls, and no tires slashed during the process of her sleuthing. In fact i was shocked at how blunt she was about her questioning. "Did you attend the function to kill XXX" or "Did you want to see XXX dead?" Shocking, yes, but it helped move the story along.
Tally does get some good leads, and was pretty creative with her sleuthing methods. She pretty straight forward, has her head on straight, and has a good time living and working with her cousin Bree and niece Allison.
This was a good story that I plan to continue the series. I wasnt able to figure out the killer, but was somewhat dissaponited in the final reveal. No action or guns pulled. Otherwise a worthwile clean read.

I admit it... this one had me going until the end. I kept thinking it was this person, then that person... in the end I was wrong!
There were a few times where the story bogged down a bit, but overall a good read. I liked Tally's spunk, and her cousin Bree and her "niece" Alice added some laugh out loud moments. (If you're looking for ice cream recipes, you'll be disappointed, though- there's only 1 along with a topping recipe at the back of the book.)
I will be reading the second book in this series when it comes out- I'd like to see how Tally's relationship with Finn (her former flame) develops.
