Okay, there is no mention of a movie being made from this book, but in my humble opinion - there should be! The book itself reads as though you're watching the story unfold on a movie screen. I enjoyed it. True, it wasn't scary enough to make me lose a night of sleep (hence the 4 star and not 5 star rating - sick, huh? *laugh) but I did have to peek over my shoulder from time to time. *laugh I have to agree with one reader that the story seemed to just - end - but then I think that was the purpose of the ending...to kind of leave the readers hanging. Hanging for what? A sequel? Who knows? All in all, this book is definitely worth getting. A few graphic but not over the top horror scenes and an interesting plot. Like I said, I'd be the first in line if the story were turned into a movie. Speaking of movies, if you liked "House on Haunted Hill", "13 Ghosts", or "Ghost Ship" - grab this book because it's pretty much based on the same theme of greed and such.
I really enjoyed this book , hard to put down . Read it in a day and a half. If you like suspense and thrillers you will enjoy Scream Queen
this was a decent horror novel as far as that goes.
this is a book not ment forthe weak hearted.it is really a coo; book, befor you know you are almost done with the book. this is one that would really make a great movie
A solid horror. Obvisouly written by somebody who is very familiar with the big screen and it seems like this book was written almost exclusively for tv. Not necessarily my favorite book but I notice alot of Stephen King in this book I feel.
Definately a must read. I read it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down! It definately has the "what was that noise" factor to it. I definately kept to the light and kept looking over my shoulder for a couple days. I would definately recommend this book to horror fans!
This was good.
A good haunted house book that read like I was watching a movie--fast paced and easy to picture in my mind. The book had elements of several well-known horror movies/shows (House on Haunted Hill, Scare Tactics, 13 Ghosts, etc). The plot was simple--6 people are chosen for a reality show where they must spend a night in an actual haunted house to win.
It really felt like I was reading the book version of several good horror flicks mixed together. In fact, the way the author kept making references to various horror movies, he may have meant it to be like an homage. The book also gives you an insider's view of a movie production which I found interesting.
Scream Queen was scary enough that I was on edge while reading it, but not so creepy to give me nightmares. Recommended, especially if you enjoy movies like House on Haunted Hill, 13 Ghosts, etc. The only problem I have is that I grew to like the main character and the book leaves you hanging as far as what happens to her in the end. I always hate it when a movie ends that way--if the author really was trying to imitate a horror movie, it would have been much better to pass on that sequel-begging trick.
