An oldie, but goodie. I never saw the movie, but the book was awsome. Bily Ikehorn marries an older man whom she truly loves, and lives the life of a princess. When he dies, she must start her life over, and decides to builds Scruples - the world's most famous ready-to-wear and haute cauture shop. She hires Spider Elliot and Valentine O'Neill to help her. The players are beautiful, talented, and smart. The story never slows down - just keeps building through 600 pages to the perfect ending.

This is the first of a trilogy. I have read this book at least six times, and I am never disappointed by it.
You should really be curious (or have no qualms about reading a story that's) about fashion, casual sex, Hollywood, and the lives of the very rich.
"Scruples" follows the life of three characters who are so different from each other, it's almost amazing that they were ever friends. It's set in the late seventies and is just an amazing book to read. I never can put it down when I start reading it!!

EVEN BETTER THAN THE GAME HAVE YOU GOT SCRUPLES?
This is one of my all time favorite books and I have read it several times. 574 pages. The rear cover states: "The spellbinding story of the rise of a fascinating woman from fat, unhappy 'poor relative' of an aristocratic Boston family to a unique position among the super-beautiful and super-rich, a woman who got everything she wanted-fame, wealth, power and love."
Older novel but is really enjoyable. It is about the inside world of high fashion and holloywood.
If you like to read about fashion and funtimes in Hollywood, you will enjoy this book. I really enjoyed it. It was good, fun, light reading.
Screuples is the first novel that created publishing history, the first--and widely acknowledged to be the very best--novel even written about the staggeringly luxurious life of a Beverly Hills boutique and the people who work in it.
Spoiler alert!!
Scruples is the story of Wilhelmina Hunnewell Winthrop Ikehorn Orsini. It starts out with Billy, as she prefers to be called, asking her friend and employee Valentine O'Neill to create a dress for her for the Oscars. Her second husband, Vito Orsini, has a movie in the running for Best Picture. We then learn about Billy, her life as a fat outsider in Boston. Her transformation to slenderness and beauty in Paris. Her marriage to the powerful and rich Ellis Ikehorn and then producer Vito Orsini. On the way we also learn about Valentine O'neill, the french designer of women's clothing. Spider Elliot, the quintessential ladies man from California. Dolly Moon, the abundant actress Billy meets while on the set of Vito's film Mirrors and many more memorable, living characters.
Judith Krantz has a way of taking the problems of the very rich and making the reader feel as if he or she can empathize. Krantz has some pretty powerful love scenes in all her books and this one is no exception.

Fun, steamy summer read with a peek at the fashion industry.
European release. If you like Krantz, you'll love this book.
Like a big dollop of literary cotton candy. Utterly pointless, silly, and will rot your teeth. But so much fun. As some have said, Krantz can be counted on to deliver smutty sex scenes and terrific frocks!
Book is in readable condition. Has been well read and is worn.
The ultimate romance! The spellbinding story of the rise of a fascinating woman from fat, unhappy "poor relative" of an aristocratic Boston family to a unique position among the super-beautiful and super-rich, a woman who got everything she wanted-fame, wealth, power and love.
