This book is based on historical facts along with fiction and is about the Clark family in Virginia. The story begins in 1773 and follows several of the Clark sons; one through the French and Indian war, another at Valley Forge and another as a prisoner on an British prison ship off the coast of New Jersey. The most well known son is George Rogers Clark who along with Merriwether Lewis explored the American West to the Pacific. Anyone who enjoys historical/fiction will like this book. It is 879 pages long but keeps the reader interested from beginning to end.

I read this book years ago, and loved it. Ann Rogers Clark and her family helped to form this country. this book for me was very informative. My interest had to do with being able to read about these people that were ancestors of my family. Ann Rogers Clark was a cousin to the branch of my family that I came from. My maiden name still being Rogers. I have since read several others that James Alexander Thom wrote, and so far I have enjoyed them all.

Great . traced the Lewis and Clark and the Corps of discovery trek through the La. purchase territory. Also gave background in shape of Clark family experiences in Rev War and settling the "Kentuck" territory.

A wonderfull story that recreates the history of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. A trubute to the family of John Clark and his wife Ann Rogers Clark and the ten sons and daughters they raised. If you like the history of our country, you will love this book.
