Terrific series full of wonder, weirdness, and beauty. I love it.
Book Three in the story of the most famous shape-shifter of them all!
I loved this book because all characters were certainly of fantasy. The world and the events were just as much fantasy. This author's work is always fun to read. Often think she must live in a fantasy world in her head and when she finishes one series she moves on to another. So entertaining.
The tale features Marvin Manyshaped, obviously, whose travels and adventures are unique and interesting. Somehow she always gets out of whatever complications she encounters. As a shapeshifter she is able to move about in her world without detection solving problems, keeping herself and her friends safe. If you like fantasy you will enjoy this series. Dip into and check it out for yourself.

The conclusion of the Mavin Many-shaped trilogy, and much better if you've read the first trilogy of books starring her son Peter, starting with King's Blood Four. Although this is a prequel to that series it will flow better to read them in the order they were written. Strong fantasy world, lots of issues left open so it's obvious she intended to write the next set. I do think that Peter's conception is something of a cheat. Why couldn't Himaggery be a normal guy who actually does want a relationship with an independent woman, and why couldn't Mavin love him for what he is and still have an independent life? But that's not how Tepper writes, and it would be a different book if she did.
