Fiona Monaghan is the best of the best in the magazine world. She is editor of Chic magazine. She meets John Anderson, head of an ad agency through the magazine. It is instant attraction for John but Fiona drags her feet when it comes to a romance between the two. She uses lack of closet space as a reason to not become close to John or any man for that matter. But as happens, opposites attract and the two soon find themselves in love--although it may not end with a happily ever after. Fiona is a steadfast woman who leads a somewhat exotic lifestyle with a house man who wears high heels and a dog whom she thinks of as a person. And John has issues of his own with his two grown daughters and his housekeeper and also the psycho dog from %&^$! These two must try to put their differences aside and deal with their different lifestyles while being a couple. It's a question though if they'll be able to succeed.

Fiona Monaghan is the editor-in-chief of Chic, a leading fashion magazine. Fiona is intelligent, stylish, and fiercely independent. She has never married and doesn't feel she has missed out on anything but heartbreak and lack of closet space. So far she has been more than content in her busy jet-set lifestyle. Then one day she meets John Anderson, the head of the advertising agency recently hired by Chic. John is as conservative as Fiona is outrageous, yet they are instantly attracted and drawn together. Together they face almost impossible obstacles---Fiona's wild life and demanding job, not to mention her ancient snoring bulldog Sir Winston and flashy Pakistani houseman Jamal, as well as John's disapproving daughters, hostile longtime housekeeper and evil Pekinese Fifi, and the looming memory of his saintly late wife.

Inside cover:

Eccentric high fashion meets buttoned-up Madison Avenue in Danielle Steel's captivating tale of two perfect-for-each-other people from two wildly different worlds. In a fresh, funny look at what happens when a woman who has everything finally meets her match, Danielle Steel proves that, in life and love, it's never too late for a second chance.

As editor-in-chief of New York's leading fashion magazine, Fiona Monaghan lived a life as hectic and high-toned as the fashion world itself, jetting back and forth between her stylish Manhattan brownstone and the couture shows of Europe. With closets stuffed with Fendi, a snoring bulldog named Sir Winston sharing her bed, and a houseman who favors gold lamé and borrows her shoes, Fiona was utterly content with her life. Until the sweltering June day John Anderson strolled into her office.

After a dinner date left them both wanting more, Fiona impulsively invited John to the Paris couture shows. And in the most romantic city in the world, somewhere between the magic of the runway and the stroll along the Seine, Fiona let this man into her heart. A widower with two daughters, John Anderson was nearly Fiona's opposite in every way. As conservative as she was freewheeling, John was both amused and appalled by Fiona's world of high-strung designers, anorexic models, and high-heeled housemen. But within weeks of their return to New York, John was making friends with Sir Winstonâand Fiona was making room in her closets.

It didn't take long for the dominoes to start falling. First, John introduced Fiona to his daughters, their bloodthirsty Pekingese, and a snarling housekeeper straight out of Hitchcock's Rebecca. It was hate at first sight. Then, after a dinner party with John's biggest client goes disastrously awry, Fiona and John's relationship began to unravel with alarming speed. What happens next will set Fiona on a journey filled with pain and revelation, awakening and change.â¦For when she returns to Paris alone and takes an amazing risk, an extraordinary series of events begins to unfold. And as the snow falls on the city of light, Fiona is about to get the surprise of her life: a second act she never saw coming.

In a dazzling tale of modern misadventures and career-crossed relationships, Danielle Steel brings us into the lives of two unforgettable people as they love and laugh, struggle and survive. With unerring insight, she captures the heady magic of instant attraction, the challenges of changeâand the hope that comes when we dare to do it all over again.

The world's most popular author tells a good, well-paced story and explores some important issues. Steel affirms life and while admitting its turbulence, melodframas, and misfiring passions.

Fiona Monaghan, 42, lives the high life. With six years under her belt as editor-in-chief of Chic Magazine, a high fashion rag, Fiona is wined and dined around the world, has closets full of fabulous clothes and throws spirited dinner parties. Marriage has never been an option for the self-possessed Fiona; her ancient English bulldog, Sir Winston, is her main companion. Then she meets staid advertising exec John Anderson, head of the new agency handling Chic's account. Anderson, a handsome widower with two daughters, is utterly charmed by the phenomenal Fiona and dazzled by her lifestyle. Sparks fly and, after much inner turmoil, Fiona agrees to marry Anderson. The beginning of their relationship is rocky: Anderson's college-aged girls and housekeeper hate Fiona at first sight, and even the family dog attacks. But it's Anderson who can't handle Fiona's frenetic, glamorous life, and less than a year after their marriage he files for divorce. Devastated, Fiona quits her job and moves to Paris to write a book, finally allowing herself to be wooed again by her chastened ex-husband. Some readers will bridle at the idea that Fiona must give up her career to find happiness, but others will enjoy the usual Steel frills: plenty of gorgeous outfits, fine dining and exquisite real estate.

This is my once a year Danielle Steele novel. I enjoyed reading. It is the winter/spring romance for a woman and her son's friend. Very typical Danielle Steele.

A friend gave me this one and I already have it. I haven't read the other copy yet. From what I read on the jacket, it is about the challenges two people face in their relationship.
