Love All the older stuff by John Saul, and this was no exception. Kept me interested from the first page and wasn't predictable like many of his more recent novels.

Another one of John Saul books that was very engaging. When Teri's parents died in a house fire, she moves in with her father(Charles), step-mother(Phyllis), and half-sister(Melissa). At first everything is going well for Teri. Although Teri is treated like gold by her step-mother, Melissa is being abused by ner mother. One night Teri witnesses the punishment Phyllis imposes on Melissa.
After that night Teri creates a sinister plan to get rid of Melissa and taking her rightful place as the daughter of the Halloway Household.
This story really draws you in and makes you feel for the characters that are on the recieving end of Teri and Phyllis's wrathe. If you are looking for one of those books that are impossible to put down, this is it!

I've really enjoyed this book throughout the years. I borrowed the book as a young adult from my Mom and have kept it ever since. This is one of the few books that I've ever read more than once.

I picked this up to read it before posting and by the end of the first chapter, I realized I had read it before. I read it again anyway and it was just as good the second time. There are little payoffs along the way so you don't feel like the same thing is dragging on forever, but the final twist isn't until the last few pages! Warning though, this one is not for the squimish.

A lush, secluded Maine seaside resort. Summer playground of the superrich. One hundred years ago, something disturbed their play. Horror came to this village. And though no one knows it yet, the horror has never left.

It waits for a shy young girl. Outcast by her friends. By her beautiful half sister. Even by her own mother. She knows how it feels to be unwanted. Angry. Soon she will know the touch of unholy terror. And the rage of blood-drenched vengenace. Beware. Beware the.... Second Child.

I don't know why I read this book. I think my mother gave it to me when I broke my arm or something. I do know that it was an introduction of sorts for me to try reading authors I had never heard of. All in all I liked it.

Alush, seaside Maine resort. A summer playground of the superrich. One hundred years ago something distrurbed their play, horror came to town. And though no one knows it, it has never left. It waits for a shy girl, one with no friends. An outcast by her beautiful half sister, and even her own mother. It waits.
