I found this to be a page turning, atmospheric read. The heroine is believable as a horror writer and the caretaker who is actually a cop makes a great hero. I wished it was a longer book so that we could spend more time getting to know details of the characters.

This is Gothic novel meets the 21st Century. Totally un believable, I lived in Southeast Louisiana and houses, or mansions do not have hidden basements-It would flood because the area is below sea level. Someone didn't do their homework when researching for this novel. The story is very predictable, no real surprises. Not really worth the money paid for it, But please, someone take this book off my hands.

I'll have to disagree with the previous reviewer. I could not put this book down!! Great suspense which I think lived up to the "Shivers" miniseries. I'll be looking forward to the next installment from Ms. DeLeon.
