I absolutely loved this book from the Highlands' series. I read it in two days!
Highly reccomended, especially if you have read the other two Highlands' books before...It was nice to read it a little backwards.

Perhaps not the most edifying historical romance but a fun and charming story nonetheless. Judith is an English lady taken to Scotland by Highland Laird Iain Maitland to care for her BFF during her pregnancy and childbirth. The romance progresses quickly and all that stands between them is her secret parentage, she's the daughter of a rival laird. Nothing terribly deep in the story, the characters are simple and the tension in the story never feels very dramatic. But they characters are likeable and the story is swift and fun to read.
This is the first book I've read by Garwood and it was terrific. I'll be looking for more of her writings.
London and Scotland 12th century
This story is very well written, and leaves you laughing long after you're done reading the book.
Another great Garwood novel.
Love her books. Just happened to have a duplicate or would not give up.
This is, by far, my favorite of Julie Garwood's books. I've read this one so many times that I'm on my 4th copy of the book. Strong hero (love those Highland Lairds) with a great heroine who comes into her own in a big way. Fantasic secondary characters leading into the rest of this great series.
Not as great as I anticipated. I love Julie Garwood and a lot of people recommended this book. I just didn't like Judith or Ian, I didn't like there story.
If you like Julie Garwood Highland books, you will like this one. Two friends, one English and one Scottish met when they were children. They saw each other once a year, but never forgot each other. When the Scottish girl needed the English girls help, she came to her in the Highlands. There is some comedy, some drama and some mystery in this book and is one of my favorites.
This was a great book, I've read quite a few of her books, and most of them are good.
This book is in the Scotish Highlands, Great characters, Awesome story.

Really good read. Excellent alpha male hero. Independent-minded, feisty heroine. Medieval Scotland setting. Hot sex. Interesting secondary characters. I couldn't put it down -- read the whole thing one Sunday.
Judith Hampton was as beautiful as she was proud an loyal. Her dear Scottish friend from childhood was about to give birth, and Judith had promised to be at her side. But there was another, private reason for the journey from her bleak English home to the Highlands; to meet the father she had never known, the Laird Maclean. Nothing prepared her, however, for the sight of the Scottish barbarian who was to escort her into his land...Iain Maitland, Laird of his clan, a man more powerfully compelling that any she had ever encountered.
In a spirited clash of wills and customs, Judith reveled in the melting bliss of Iain's searching kisses, his passionate caresses. Perplexed by her sprightly defiance, bemused by her tender nature, Iain felt is soul growing into the light and warmth of her love. Surely nothing would wrench her from the affection and trust of Iain and his clan...not even the truth about her father, a devastating secret that could shatter the boldest alliance, and the most glorious loves!
Another one of Julie Garwood's great books. I love her writing!

All I can say is that Julie Garwood is great aurthr, I love a;; of her books.
I liked Julie Garwood's Highlander books and this one is just as great as the others. I actually thought this one was funnier than all the rest, and it had me laughing out loud. It's a great "feel good" book and I would recommend it to anyone.
Perfect book for the first in a series!!!
As always Julie G has been on my favorite author list for a long time!

This book was great. It had me laughing from the beginning. Throughout the book, i couldnt help smiling to myself. Only problem is that I would have wanted to know a little more about her dad and brother...overall greatly recommend
This book was a suprise read. I had bought this along with many others just to have something to read when I was out of "good books". But when I started reading this book, it was deceiving, and turned out to be a very good read. It's not just another run of the mill books about some Scottish Lord. It grips you and makes you feel a part of the scenery into which the book propels you. You can see in your minds eye the surrounding lands, and peoples of this book. You find yourself wanting your husband, boyfriend, to be like the handsome, rugged, and wise Iain of Scotland. He is not your typical laird of his clan.
This book is definitely a must read!

I couldn't have even begun to imagine a more heartwarming and amusing story than Judith and Iain's. Everything about this book was absolutely perfect. I loved all of the characters and loved to hate the villains. I'm amazed at how quickly each character stole my heart. Many of the minor characters, who only had their say for a few characters, manged to carve a place for themselves too.
The relationships were really what made this book. My favorite obviously being Judith and Iain's. I loved how sweet it was but at the same time it was fiery and banter filled. I also adored Judith and Frances Catherine's friendship as well as the odd friendship between Judith and Brodick (so funny).
I never picked up this book expecting it to make me laugh, especially not laugh out loud. Judith was an amazing character to read about and she always kept me laughing. The responses she drew from other characters were always amusing. My favorites were usually when she was purposely making Iain or Brodick mad.
I'm always wary before reading a medieval historical romance because of the extra religious nature they tend to pick up as well as the anti-women attitude some characters have. I'm so glad I gave this book a chance despite my misgivings. I thought Garwood did an amazing job with these common medieval values. She included them but they were never overbearing or tedious.
I love reading historicals but after about a year I find that they tend to blend together with the others I've read. The Secret is memorable, and while an hour hasn't even pasted yet, I don't see myself forgetting this wonderful story any time soon.

I loved the way this highland romance started. It has a great story and solid characters. A fun read.
A very entertaining book. I highly recommend you read this--a great author.
My favourite book! I would like to share it with other people.
Classic romance. Funny, touching, sexy and probably one of my favorite romances of all time. A book to be read over and over.
This was a great weekend read! History and romance with strong characters and a 'secret'.
Great historical romance, set in Scotland, with a lot of action and suspense.
Loved this book you could almost hear the Scottish accents.Page turner could not put this book down until finished.

I really loved this book...it was much more than your regular scot romance. I also liked that it was longer in length and gave me more time to 'get to know' the characters
Fantastic book, great author
Fierce loyalty to a friendship puts this heroine into the path of danger, predjudice and a great passion.
Really fun and great story from Julie. love all her Highland laird ones and this is one of my favorites that i will have to read again. Judith and Iain make a wonderful pair.
Absolutely loved it! I had quite a few chuckles over this one. Her Scotland series are great.
