This is actually a sequel to the last book ("The Ruthless Charmer") in "The Rogues of Regent Street" triology. Sophie Dane, sister of Julian Dane, Earl of Kettering, who is the hero of "The Ruthless Charmer," got herself into a lot of trouble by eloping to Gretna Green with a man who ended up beating her. This is the story of what happens to Sophie after her family steals her away from her abusive, fortune-hunting husband and sends her to France. Great story. Julia London fans won't be disappointed.

Loved this 'sequel'to the Rogues of Regent Street trilogy, about Julian's sister. Sophie and Caleb were wonderful characters!

This was my first Julia London book and I was not impressed. The story started out too slow, with too much explaining of the least little thing. The heroine was a wimp and I guess that isn't my kind of lead. I gave it a 3 rating because of the epilogue, that explained more in a few pages than the all the pages in the book.

A woman rejected by her family and a man labeled a fortune hunter...both sympathetic characters who aid each other... nicely done.

I really enjoyed this book, the coming together of the two main characters was a wonderful struggle and the push and pull that inn sued really made it a fun read.

I am a huge Julia London fan, but this book was so slow, and so filled with indecision and hurtful, wishy-washy poor decision-making, I almost stopped rooting for the heroine. I had to stop reading several times to build my patience back up. I only finished it because I'm almost out of books. If this is your first Julia London book, don't start here!

It was a good read, following the tale of one of the rogues.
