Crisp and concise, just like the military. The story is told without sentimentality but remains a powerful account of horrific suffering, courage and endurance under brutal conditions. The language and customs, the poverty and lack of any modern infrastructure or simple comforts during war made Albania a nightmare for the people trapped there. The author makes the story come alive and the reader follows all the characters on their daily struggle to survive. Highly recommend if you enjoy this genre. D.
