I absolutely loved this book. I couldn't do everything to a "T", but the routine helped my husband and I immensely! Love, love, love it.

A needle in a haystack when it comes to finding quality books for new moms. This book was wonderful. Read it before and during baby. The key is to treat your baby with respect and listen/watch his/her ques. Tough but with patience is very doable.

This book helped me immensely with my first child. Any first time parent would benefit greatly from this book. It describes how parents can understand their baby's cries and body language. It really helped me meet my sons (and later my daughters) needs.

I thought there were some interesting ideas in this book, but as another reviewer commented, don't take it too seriously. I didn't read it as totally "anti-attachment" parenting, one could still take some of the ideas from it even if one is an attachment parent (although you probably have better things to do with your time than read this book). I personally wished sometimes that I'd had the kind of child that would take to these ideas ... I didn't. These seem geared more toward the family with the generally easy kid but the new parents need some guidance. But I do have friends who had kids that these ideas would have worked well for them. I think it could be a good shower gift, as long as the new mom doesn't seem to be leaning toward the attachment parenting philosophy.

Book was okay, but not really my parenting style. The EASY routine system was just not for us.

There is a lot of information in this book. For a first time mom, it was a little overwhelming, but still informative.

If you ever wanted to call an experienced nanny at three a.m. when your newborn is crying, then this is the book for you. Here is gentle advice from a voice of experience that sounds like advice from an old friend. One of the things I really liked about this book was the fact that the author emphasized the approach of the baby being a person not just an object to be quieted if you know which exact technique to use.

I thought this book was just ok. I got a couple good ideas out of there, but that's about it. I did like that she is the 'gentler' version of a baby trainer, but I personally just don't believe in training babies.
(I tend to gravitate towards the no-cry-it-out and Attachement Parenting styles.) I also found the information on breastfeeding to be incorrect and potentially harmful to a mother who desires to be successful in this area.

A lot of parents swear by this book, but I found that it didn't fit in with our parenting style.

Simply the best advice ever! Bought this book as a last resort. I didn't know how to decipher the cries, or how to find her schedule. Or how to adjust it to fit our life. My daughter went from an absolute terror, to the happiest baby ever! Even my Mother was so impressed that we both recommend and buy the book as a baby shower gift. FYI...If your child is over the age of 9 months I'd start looking at another one of her books.

Great book!! Worked like a charm and now my 4 month old son sleeps through the night and is on a schedule (I use that term loosely) throughout the day making it easy to recognize his hungry/tired/bored/etc. signs! :-) Highly recommend.

I am a mother of 3 and nine months pregnant with #4. I have three very different children and still found this book helpful for all of them. I like her balanced approach and her section on sleep. I give this book to all new moms I know and plan to re-read it in the next few weeks for help with #4.

If you can get over her cheesy-ness the advice in this book is great. It really helped me understand my kids and get them in a good routine from the start.

The book was OK and had a few decent tips, but I found it repetitive. In addition, the so-called "baby whisperer" comes across as being almost anti-breastfeeding.

Very good and helpful book. Read when my baby was about 8 weeks old. Wish I had read before having him or within 1st 2 weeks. In my mind, it is a kinder, gentler version of babywise.

Very good book but would have been more helpful if I had gotten it when my son was a newborn not an infant. Still got a few insights that were helpful though even at the 8 month stage.

I really liked the concepts in this book about infants. She has a no-nonsense yet gentle approach to helping your baby ease into your world. I appreciated the concept of eat/play/sleep routines to structure our day. It really helped my baby, who wasn't getting enough daytime rest. I also really liked the guide to different cries and body language, and what they mean. I felt like I wasn't wandering blindly, but that I could learn to read my baby and figure out what he needs.
She does focus on sleep training using a pick-up, calm, put-down method that people who are opposed to cry-it-out may prefer.

From the dust jacket, "Reassuring, down-to-earth, and often flying in the face of conventional wisdom, Secrets of the Baby Whisperer promises parents not only a healthier, happier baby but a more relaxed and happy household as well."

This book was highly recommended and it was a lifesaver when I was a new mom, struggling with my baby's GERD and milk allergy. It does a great job of slowing the parent down and listening to the baby. The recommendations make absolute sense.

Easy..how to get baby to eat, play, and sleep on a schedule that will make every member of the household's life easier and happier. Slow... how to interpret what your baby is trying to tell you ( so you don't try to feed him when he really wants a nap) How to identify which type of baby yours is-- angel, textbook, touchy, spirited, or Grumpy--and then learn the best way to interact with that type.

Good practical advice for new parents trying to get a baby on that magical "schedule". Like all other baby books, the techniques may or may not work with your baby (they did for us), but worth a try!

Awful awful awful, horrible and potentially dangerous child care advice. Almost as bad as babywise, but at least with a hint of respect for the baby.

Not really my philosophy, but may be helpful to someone else! I will say that the E.A.S.Y. plan did work for us for a little while. The author has valid points to some extent, but some seem a little off, in my opinion.

I personally prefer Dr. Spock, but this can be a helpful book. Just don't take it too seriously.

I love this book. It helped me with all three of my children and taught me things that made other mom's say "you're so lucky". I'm not lucky, I'm parenting with intention and I have the E.A.S.Y system. I got this book because I lent it out and never got it back. I then lent it to another friend who is expecting her first. This book is essential for any parent. I have went back to it time and again for encouragement, support, and other suggestions when something wasn't working. All in all, it is my favorite parenting book. I also have her book "The Baby Whisperer Solves All Your Problems" and highly recommend it. It's a shame she lost her life so early due to melanoma; she was full of wisdom.

A good resource to have on hand if you have a baby in the house or even better yet to get and have on hand before baby arrives.

I LOVE this book! I give it as part of baby shower gifts. When I was expecting my first child I thought "what am I going to do with her?" This book calmed my nerves and I feel that this book helped me as we went through her first year together. Now I am reading "Secrets of the Baby Whisperer: For Toddlers" Tracy is great!

Wonderfully balance book on getting to know your baby and learning how to respond to her "communications" with you. I read it with my 3rd child, and wished I'd read it sooner.
