Ms. Clements debut effort is a very good start to her writing career. She has created some very dynamic characters and their story is compelling and of course romantic.

Sarah was married once before and vowed after the death of her husband to never marry again. She has accompanied her selfish cousin Katherine to the north in order to see if she will suit the Marquis of Caldern. Sarah thinks this will be an easy task...until she meets the handsome and strong willed lord. There is an instant attraction between them but her past is keeping her from trusting her heart that is until tragedy strikes.

Widowed Sarah Wellsley delights in her daily swim until she is discovered by an imposing stranger who mistakes her for a harlot. Having escaped the cads embrace, shes mortified to meet him again mere hours later, and shocked to discover he is the long-absent Marquess of Caldernand her cousin Carolines intended. But now he only has eyes for Sarah, and will pursue her at any cost. The situation couldnt be more awkward particularly because she cannot erase the memory of Alex Calderns touch.

Alex long ago abandoned dreams of love. His marriage will be a business arrangement to produce an heir. On the eve of his proposal, however, he is seized by a passion he cannot ignore: the need to possess Lady Carolines quiet cousin. By turns wanton and demure, Sarah confounds his every instinct and thwarts even his most ingenious attempts to have her. Yet she is by his side, unbidden, especially when he is in danger.

As the attempts on Calderns life multiply, Sarahs deepest feelings slowly make themselves known. And when Alex finally realizes what she wants, hes more than prepared to satisfy her.

Regency romance - the widowed Sarah Wellsley is found swimming in a pond (disgraceful!)by a stranger, who turns out to be the Marques of Caldern - her spoiled cousin's intended. Both families are furious, & someone is trying to kill the Marquess.

This is a new author for me and I will read more. Sarah and Alex were an intriguing mix of different personalities. Alex wanting nothing more than his land and Sarah. And Sarah only interested in her freedom. Her first marriage was a disaster and Alex had to convince her that he was different. It was a beautiful love story.
