~ ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! BAD-BOY HOCKEY PLAYER FALLS FOR "PLAIN JANE" JOURNALIST (4.5 stars) ~

When I first read SEE JANE SCORE, I thought it was absolutely amazing and would have given it way more than five stars if I could have. I first read it from the library and immediately got it online afterwards, since I knew this would be a (multiple) future reread for me. I have already reread it once so far and although the second time, my rating went down to 4.5 stars, it is still definitely one of my favorite contemporary romances.

Jane and Luc were wonderful characters and their interactions were very enjoyable; the supporting cast was also great - Jane's friend Caroline was a riot, watching Luc develop a relationship with his sister Marie was very sweet, and the other hockey players (+ Darby) added a lot of humor.

I've read a fair amount of romances (probably an understatement), and though they have most all been historicals, I think it's usual in the romance genre that when an author has one of the main characters do something that creates conflict for the couple and causes issues/a fight towards the end, it's almost always the guy. That's why it was a nice change to have in this book the heroine be the one who does something that causes the conflict (one of Jane's "Honey Pie" articles) and have her be the one with all the regret and guilt and the hero be the injured party.

Basically: wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! READ IT!!

CHINOOKS HOCKEY TEAM SERIES:
(1) SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE
(2) SEE JANE SCORE
(3) THE TROUBLE WITH VALENTINE'S DAY
(4) TRUE LOVE AND OTHER DISASTERS
(5) NOTHING BUT TROUBLE

RECOMMENDATIONS:
For other wonderful sports-related contemporary romances, check out these books:
(1) HEAVEN, TEXAS (Chicago Stars, Book 2) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips - 5 stars
(2) MATCH ME IF YOU CAN (Chicago Stars, Book 6) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips - 4.5 stars

Another hit for Gibson. I'm requesting more and more of these. This was a little different than "truly, Madly Yours" in that it is written from a third person perspective, which was a little hard for me to get used to, but after the first few pages, it was easy!

(Plain) Jane Ascott, a reporter, is assigned to travel with the Seattle Chinooks professional hockey team to cover their games. She is allowed full access to the locker room for interviews but the team doesn't want her anywhere near them, expecially Luc Martineau, star goalie. Jane isn't the kind of woman Luc normally goes for but there is something about her that attracts him. This book was a good contemporary...no kick butt heroines or arrogant heroes, just what you might expect from two people trying to establish a relationship.

Rachel Gibson creates such funny characters that make it so easy to get sucked into her books. This wasn't my favorite of her books, but living in the Pacific Northwest I did reading about Seattle and the hockey players.

I love hockey so this book was a fun read. Its about a female reporter who gets to travel with a hockey team. As you can imagine, she doesn't get the best reception from the team. Its interesting to see how she goes about trying to get on the teams good side. It is also based in WA. Well worth the read, even if you don't care about hockey. *lol*

I don't like hockey/sports so I wasn't sure I would like this. I was wrong - Rachel Gibson is always a fun read. The hero had such a sexy tattoo~~!!

FROM THE PUBLISHER

This is Jane

A little subdued. A little stubborn. A little tired of going out on blind dates with men who drive vans with sofas in the back, Jane Alcott is living the Single Girl existence in the big city. She is also leading a double life. By day, she's a reporter covering the raucous Seattle Chinooks hockey team -- especially their notorious goalie Luc Martineau. By night, she's a writer, secretly creating the scandalous adventures of "Honey Pie" ... the magazine series that has all the men talking.

See Jane Spar

Luc has made his feelings about parasite reporters -- and Jane -- perfectly clear. But if he thinks he's going to make her life miserable, he'd better think again.

See Jane Attract

For as long as he can remember, Luc has been single-minded about his career. The last thing he needs is a smart-mouthed, pain-in-the-backside reporter digging into his past and getting in his way. But once the little reporter sheds her black and gray clothes in favor of a sexy red dress, Luc sees that there is more to Jane than originally meets the eye.

Maybe it's time to take a risk. Maybe it's time to live out fantasies. Maybe it's time to ... see Jane score.

Reporter Jane Alcott is ecstatic when she learns that she has been chosen to cover the Seattle Chinooks hockey team. She doesn't know a lot about hockey, but she is willing to learn. But the hockey players are giving her a hard time as she travels with the team, especially star goalie Luc Martineau. Luc hates reporters because of their coverage of his injuries and his personal life over the last few years. He refuses to talk to reporters, including Jane. But when Jane keeps asking for an interview, he is intrigued by her.

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are starting and I felt like it was time to re-read this book. I love a good sports romance and this one fits the bill. Jane is smart and sassy. She looks nothing like any of the women that Luc is attracted to. Yet he can't get her out of his mind. Luc is a hottie with a killer tattoo. I thought he was a bit of a selfish jerk at first, but he redeemed himself when it came to caring for his younger sister.

The characters are fun and the romance is hot. I listened to the audiobook this time and found the narration by Kathleen Early to be first-rate. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

Not one of my favorites, but still another good book from Rachel Gibson

I enjoy sports themed books anyway and Rachel Gibson adds the extra special touch of seeming to really get the athlete's! If she hasn't spent time in a locker room or knows real life professional athletes you sure can't tell it by the way her characters come to life.

Not just a fun story but a great intro to hockey on and off the ice.

What can I say about Luc? A professional hockey player, he starts out as a typical sexy alpha male jerk - but as the story goes on you get to see more of his charecter. He falls for the girl with personality , not looks. To me , that says alot. This and "Truly Madly Yours" are my favorite books by Ms. Gibson.

Cute, with sexual tension. Sassy, petite, small built female writer and news reporter, meets hockey player who usually dates "Barbie" types with big boobs. Usual "chick flick", but light and enjoyable reading.

Call me the wet blanket because I didn't find this book great. It's simple and predictable. There's not much of a plot. Nerdy girl can't believe a hot hockey player is interested in her. Though it didn't bother me, there are graphic sexual scenes. If you're not into hockey or sports, you might want to pass on this book.
