A very interesting book. You might think it's about a pair of young New Yorkers on motorscooters riding cross country to California, but you'd only be "part right". This book is as much about friendship and growing up as it is about two motorscooters heading west.
Set in 1963, it reminded me of that time and what was happening during that era. The sheer will and determination of these two young adults is enlighting. They encounter weather, mechanical problems and meet with some very interesting individuals along their trek. These experiences educate and enlighten the two riders.
If you enjoy adventures, you'll like this book.
The only bad point is that there are certain things stated in the book that I had difficulty understanding. I just kept reading and enjoyed the book despite these confusing parts.
The author Peter S. Beagle also wrote "The last unicorn", which I understand is a great book as well.
