I found this book to be so awful that I could not even finish it. I just skimmed through the last ten or so chapters to see how it ended. Cathy and Chris are two of the worst parents I've ever seen and seem to get dumber and dumber as each book goes on. With Bart's history, with their own history, and with the history of Foxworth Hall, you would think that ONE of them would have a clue in between them. This is not to be the case. They stand around like blithering idiots while things fall apart around them. If I were 15 I might be able to accept this, and maybe 15 year old's were the intended audience for this book. In the first book, I actually felt sorry for these characters. By the time I got to this one, I thought they were all horrible.

The conclusion to the Flowers in the Attic series, and it ends with a Bang! If you have read the others and not this one, this is a must!

I did not read this all the way through as the subject was somewhat distasteful to me but very well written. I had seen Flowers in the Attic, the movie so tried this book.

The final, haunting novel, in the extraordinary story that has enthralled millions!
The horror began with Flowers in the Attic, the terrifying tale of four innocent children locked away from the world by a cruel mother.

The shocking fury continued with Petals on the Wind and If There be Thorns. Now V.C. Andrews has created the last dark chapter in the strange, chilling tale of passion and peril.

Because it's another sad, bittersweet ending from the real VC Andrews. This book has more of a soap opera feel to it than a gothic feel. Yet, it has a little of that too. You won't be disappointed; ignore the negative reviews. This is a perfect wrap-up of the Dollanganger saga, although after this book, "Garden of Shadows" (a prequel) was printed three years after this book.

It begins with a middle-aged Cathy and Chris going to live with her son Bart and their long-lost uncle, Joel Foxworth, in a rebuilt Foxworth Hall. Jory, her other son, and his wife Melodie come for a visit, as does Cindy, Chris and Cathy's adopted daughter. Soon, horrible things begin to happen and no one knows who's really responsible...but the reader can choose between Bart and Joel to place the blame; it's left to the reader to figure out.

This is fantastic reading and you won't want it to end once you get into this book.

better than 'if there be thorns', but still not up to par with some of the best books of the series. part of this is because the issues that were supposedly dealt with in 'if there be thorns' only resurface again, so its a bit repetitive if you have already read that book. the story is still being told from cathy's point of view, but shes not the main focus of the book, so it seems pointless. i was bothered that she and chris werent more uncomfortable living in the same house that held so many horrors for them all those years ago. the ending, however, totally makes up for all of the book's shortcomings. you knew it had to be coming sometime, yet it hits you so hard and is such amazing imagery. i cried.

I read this entire series as a young teenager. At the time I found them thrilling but disturbing. I've never read anything else V.C. Andrews has done -- I never felt the urge. But with this series, something about it captivated me and I ended up reading them all. I enjoyed them when I read them (which was a couple of times; a few years inbetween readings), I truly did. But now, they're a little too creepy for me (and I'm a gore and blood horror fan!). I suppose they're marketed for the pre-teen and teenage crowd, but I wouldn't consider them appropriate for a younger, more impressionable age group (incest aside, there are other equally disturbing issues in these books). But for older teens or adults who enjoy very strange and darker type stories, this whole series is for you.

This is book 4 of a four book boxed set. If necessary, I will break the set, but would prefer to have all 4 go at once.
