I adore Rosamunde Pilcher. I have reread several of her books. She takes the reader to another time and place, you feel a part of what is going on. September started off slow and I almost lost interest, but that peaked into "I read for a bit longer" and then I could not put tis book down !

Read this book for a TBR Potluck in my online book club, The Reading Cove. I love Rosamunde Pilcher's style - she takes you to Scotland and makes you want to visit! You get to know her characters intimately and their lives reach you from the pages.

SEPTEMBER was OK. I didn't enjoy it as much as COMING HOME or WINTER SOLSTICE, but these characters deserve a read. Everything builds up to a birthday party being held in September. Invitations bring home some who've been away too long, and brings certain hidden things to light. A fair read.

A superb storyteller.

He was in his bedroom, left with his bags to settle himself in. The door stood open, and from down the passage, he could hear the voices of Alexa and Virginia, still with plenty to talk about...He felt worn and grubby after the overnight drive, and, on an impulse, turned on the taps, tore off his clothers, and took the quickest, hottest bath of his life. Much refreshed, he dressed again, and, buttoning his clean shirt, walked to the window to observe the view. Fields, sheep, hills. Out of the quiet came the liquid call of a curlew. It rose and died away, and he tried to recall when he had last heard that haunting, evocative sound.....
