This was certainly a different true crime - and very readable.
The husband in this book is a character like no other - almost sub humanly
cold. Mind boggling that so many people could be fooled by him.
Even the pictures of him in the book are chilling if you look at his eyes.

It was not a book I had heard of until it was recommended to me, but certainly one of my better recent reads, just to learn how vicious and cold one human can be toward another.

More than four and a half years investigating this story Mark Horner writes his first book. Working as a TV journalist living near the crime he has poured himself into this book. It is meticiously researched and extends over the years to present his work. It contains more elements than most any true crime story...a charismatic con man who plotted his wife's murder, an innocent young woman kidnapped and missing, fear, betrayal, murder, an UFO group. 414 pp's to explain the cases against three people yet questions still linger---why was the man they had pinned the murder on let off with 10 months probation while two others rot in prison. Great DNA testing explanation in simplified language on page 282. Hope this author does more work and continues his website (see book).

From the back cover - "If I'm ever late for work, call the police!" -that's what Albuquerque, New Mexico bank teller Girly Chew, 36, told her boss. The Malaysian-born beauty lived in mortal fear of her pathologically deranged husband and had taken out a restraining order against him.

Excellent true crime. If you like that genre, this is a must.

Bizarre does not even begin to describe this story. On September 10, 1999 Girly Chew did not show up for work. Her boss knew something was very wrong and who might have something to do with her disappearance, her soon to be ex husband. The story of Girly Chew has been seen on dateline and Court TV as well as Her estranged husband Diazien Hossencofft his girlfriend Linda Henning.
Book does draw you in. It says on the back of the book 16 pages of shocking photos. Ok maybe one shocking photo and the rest are photos.
