The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe won with 5 votes over the next closest The Iliad which had three. Sounds like an interesting read but it has been compared to The Historian so some of us might be turned off by it. It's only 384 pages though, maybe all of the things we liked about The Historian will be in this but none of the long winded things we complained about. There are 19 copies in the system with another binding type also available so there will be plenty to order.

Yeah, that's why I didn't vote for it. I'm a little burned out on the past for now, we've done more than our share of it.

I've read books I thought I'd hate and wound up loving them before so I'm always up for new reads. This one does sound more interesting than The Historian but it was also written by a Historian so she might suffer the same pitfalls. We shall have to read to find out.

You're right but the problem is this is my TBR pile

tbr1 tbr3

And I have a full Kindle. One of those shelves is full of DVDs and one is puzzle books but the rest are all things I want to read. It's hard to devote a couple days to a book that I don't particularly want to read when I have so many that I do want to read waiting. I'm not a hugely fast reader, it takes me from 3-5 days to read most books.

Before joining this site I had about 3 of those shelves full of books to be read. This site is evil!

My MT. TBR is pushing 450 right now with several books on my reminder list that I really want so I get where you're coming from.

Reviews are up and down on it.  Since I haven't finished Prodigal Summer yet, and my TBR pile is competing for first place with Chris', I am going to hold off on ordering for now as I didn't vote for it.  Hopefully, you will have six to discuss it.

I'm on the fence about this book too.  I did not vote for it (I know that for sure), and I'm a little worried about the language.  The way the title is written seems a little like it is going to have a lot of unfamiliar language in it which doesn't appeal to me.  I'll do a little more research about it and then decide I guess.  I have some time.

Hi,  I know I haven't posted for a long time, but I'm still here.

I just finished The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane. I waited for it to get closer to the time for discussion.  When the book won the vote, Chris pmed me to see if I wanted to lead the discussion, I told her I would.  So if there is still interest in doing the discussion, I'm here and ready to start the discussion next week (Oct. 1).

I haven't started it yet, probably will tomorrow. It doesn't look like it will take me long to read it and I've got one to finish first.

I wasn't paying attention I guess and didn't order it but I ordered one today and luckily they mailed it right away. Depending on the p.o. I may be late.

I ended up ordering it, and it's a really cool looking book.  I haven't been able to get past the first few pages though.  I'm going to try to read some tonight.
