Great for any Clive Cussler fan. It offers the usual twists and turns that is based on some historical event described in the prologue. Kurt Austin is the protagonist here.

Kurt Austin must find a precious artifact aboard the Andrea Doria. Okay, suspend belief for a little while-it's a good book for the adventurous minded reader! As usual the sites are all over- Texas, Mexico, Guatemala and a few I've probably forgotten.

Cussler's books mostly take place deep in the ocean..the main character is likable but can be ruthless.......I want to live in his neat place..LOL

Clive Cussler has created a new bunch of NUMA supersleuths !!!!! From me: With the introduction of a new "hero" Kurt Austin, many of Cussler's old fans may go into mourning for their old hero "Dirk Pitt". Steady-On old fans, if you are uncomfortable with this new guy, just substitute "Dirk" for "Kurt" and you'll find that this one is worth your time. As with all Cussler's books, reading this one will not increase your IQ! But, if you have that inner adventurous spirit, and want several hours of pure escapism and loads of fun (now, be honest, isn't that the real reason you read Clive Cussler books?) - read this one!Just remember - Kurt Austin is really Dirk Pitt in disguise (not really, but it will sooth the "Pitt" fans.) Enjoy the book - I did immensely!
This is just one of a series written by Clive Cussler and I have always found them to be very intertaining and have read the entire series. Always hoping for another to be added to the series.

This is a seriously convoluted tale revolving around the Spanish mafia from Christopher Columbus's time and the Mayan culture. Two things that really shouldn't have anything to do with each other. Did Columbus really discover America? That is the ultimate question and if not, who did? And why are archeologists being killed when they find certain types of artifacts. A skillfully woven tale that is wholly believeable. The death defying adventures, the life threatening artifact thieves and the underwater (of course) adventures. Just a wonderful roller coaster of a ride. Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala are great characters who really can think on their feet...er, flippers.

The story was very exciting and intriguing. It was well written and overall a good read.
I bought this book for 10 cents at a library fundraiser. The corners are a bit curled up from reading by so many people but the pages are straight & clean, no water damage.
I didn't think I'd like this book when I first started but I always finish a book once I start and I'm sooooo glad I did. Twists, turns and amazing archeology kept me up until 3am some days!
