I was given a copy of this book from the publishers via NetGalley, in return for an honest review.

"Seven Deadlies" had been on my to-get shelf for a while. I was very excited to be approved for it through Netgalley, and started reading it as soon as I'd finished the book I was previously working on. And then immediately wished I had never set eyes on it.

This book was absolutely nothing like I was expecting. Maybe I read the blurb wrong, but I was expecting a story about a girl and her quirky friends in California. What I got was a book of essays. Each about a deadly sin, yes, but that was the end of it living up to my expectations. The 'essays' were not believable, not humorous and not entertaining. I can't really say much more than that without giving things away, in case you actually want to try reading it.

The two nice things that I can say were that 1) the chapters are fairly short, so stopping for a mental break is never very far off; and 2) the ending is {almost} slightly redeeming and you can feel that however long it took you to read this book is not totally wasted time.
