Are the ten plagues mentioned in the Bible fact or fiction? This is what Prof. Harold McCabe was seeking to determine when he vanishes in Sudan, only to show up two years later barely alive. An autopsy reveals that McCabe was in the process of being mummified when he died. A colleague contacts Painter Crowe when a mysterious illness starts spreading rapidly around Cairo, one that can be traced back to the medical team that examined McCabe's body. Crowe and his team begin an investigation that will take them both across the globe and back in time in order to determine what happened to McCabe and decipher the message he was trying to convey. Their investigation will lead them to the work of inventor Nikola Tesla and his attempts to create a clean, plentiful source of electricity. When they realize that a madman running a DARPA installation in the Arctic is trying to recreate Tesla's work in a way that could wipe out humanity, they must do everything they can to stop him and prevent a global catastrophe.

The Seventh Plague by James Rollins, is the 12th adventure in the Sigma Force series and it doesn't disappoint. Rollins has the uncanny ability to keep the series fresh by borrowing from both history and contemporary times to keep the series fresh and interesting. While teams like Sigma Force are common in popular literature, Rollins' creation stands out for the diverse characters that make up Sigma Force. I am a huge fan of this series and give this book 4/5 stars.
