I've liked most of what I've read of Rachel Gibson, and this has a fun and interesting premise. Unfortunately, it takes some give-me-a-break plotting to make it work. When you discover the man is an undercover cop who has been dating you because you're a prime suspect, if you're a reasonable person, you understand that the lies he told were in the line of duty and that, in his shoes, you'd make the same choices. And I expect my heroines to react like reasonable people. Yes, that sometimes makes plotting more challenging, but that's life.
I could almost overlook that flaw. What I can't overlook was when the heroine has an extreme attack of stupid and goes alone to meet a woman she only knows in passing when there's a female serial killer who has threatened to make her the next victim. This genre isn't overly critical or overly demanding, but I still expect better sense from the heroine and better plotting from an author.

At this point anything that Rachel Gibson writes, I buy! She is hilarious, the characters are interesting and the plots are fairly realistic. I am so sick of the historical "damsel in distress" crap and she writes very good contemporary stories.

Another winner! R.G. is one of my absolute favorite writers. She really knows how to keep you turning the pages. I couldn't put this one down anymore than any of her other books. I was so behind at work because I kept taking breaks to sneak in a little reading time. Defintely a great read.
