This audio book is downright hilarious. The narrator/actor uses multiple voices to create unique and totally unforgettable characters. The father that inspired this book has a unique point of view and can be quite blunt, but ultimately cares deeply what happens to his kids...if certain language offends you be aware that this book contains it.
When I first read this book, together with my husband, I was just expecting some doofy laughs, after having really enjoyed the William Shatner show based upon it. But this book has surprising heart, and there's beauty in this relationship, and wisdom, too. A hardworking man, Sam Halpern is a guy who minces no words, he also sounds like he was a very good dad, always there for his sons.
As he said to him at one point in the book, which sums it up best for me, "Son, I love the shit out of you, don't ever forget that."

Pretty funny
