As Leo Nolans mother lies dying in 1984 Toronto, he begins searching for his mothers brother Jack Radey, last heard from over fifty years ago. He is unsuccessful in finding his uncle before his mother dies, but then a letter arrives addressed to his mother from Jack, postmarked in 1934. Other letters continue to arrive, all postmarked 1934, the final from Ashland, Kentucky. Haunted by these letters and thoughts of his mother, Leo travels to Ashland in search of answers.
