A more or less formulaic tale of coliding worlds--ours and Elfland--but handled considerably better than most. A young American woman (or is she American?) gets snatched to the other side of the Gate by the bad guys (or maybe the good guys snatched her.) Then we discover that something is causign Magic to lose its power--but is this the fault of the good guys, the bad guys, or some catastrophe from the far distant past?
Real people have real problems; not everybody is totally good or totally bad, and everyone has to deal with the real world, imperfect as it is.
