This is the latest in the Bitter Creek series. Great book. Much different story than I was expecting. Reading the series is not a must before reading this book but I would suggest reading "A Stranger's Game" first as this book picks up where that one ended.

I gave this book 62 pages...it was too much like reading a soap opera to me. That's just not my thing. I loved all the books in the series prior to this one.
This book is dull. I did not like either of the main characters or even their twins. The side characters were improbable as well. I have not read the rest of the series nor should I have had to read any single novel in the series. However, I found the many, many, many summaries of other stories more interesting than the novel itself. It really irritated me that the main male character kidnaps the female and her kids and even when he is supposedly in love with her,he threatens to take them from her - and she is willing to give them up! Ugh! I was thankful when it was over! This is my second novel by this author and while the first one I read was so so, after this, I will definitely stay away.

Not really my kind of book, mostly a sleazy romance--lots of sex, lots of romance, average storyline at times almost boring due to syrupy dialogue and descriptions. Now this would be a good one for those that like Harlequin romances which I don't but once I started I zipped through it pretty fast to get it over with.
Interesting mix of characters. Jack was her teenage fatuation. Now they are in love. The only problem is her husband, who everyone thought died isn't dead. Now the biological father of her twins shows up, and to top it off Jack's soon to be exwife is now pregnant with his child. My oh my, what a mess. I did enjoy this one, Joan Johnston has a great gift for story telling!
